Ghosts. Poltergeists. The Supernatural. These ideas of the spiritual afterlife are not uncommon in Kamloops. In fact, many spooky stories involving hauntings often circulate around town. Recently, Keeping It Weird Kamloops had the pleasure of interviewing local resident Beckett Reid on his experience with ghosts. Listen to our podcast episode to hear his full story.
In the interview, Reid recounted a story from many years ago, where he had an encounter with an alleged ghost. We also discussed where the most haunted place in the city might be. Reid suggested that Padova City, also known as the Tranquille Sanatorium, was most likely to be the spot. Another supposedly haunted location he mentioned was The Dunes, a golf course in Kamloops. He described his scary experience with some sort of disappearing figures when he played hide and seek with his friends late in the night. He also mentioned that sometimes he would see things in the dark, when really it was a coat hanging or something similar. Perhaps this argument could be used to counter many claims of ghost sightings. Are they mere optical illusions or possibly something more sinister?
What do you think? Do you believe in ghosts or do you think it’s a hoax? If so, do you have any stories involving them? Feel free to share in the comments section. Also be sure to let us know of any other weird events in the city. Until then, stay weird, Kamloops!
Special thanks to Beckett Reid for the interview.
